Guest: Dusty Rainbolt, Author of ‘Cat Wrangling Made Easy’ & ‘ GHOST CATS’
Deborah begins the show with a controversial comment on Michael Vick and seeing him on television while the dogs he tortured are still recovering and the people he inspired are still ‘copy-cat’ –ing his example of dog fighting ; the internet now shows brutal dog kills by other dogs as entertainment. Why is hockey better than football? Deborah believes Michael Vick would be on the injured list permanently if he played hockey. Deborah shares Halloween tips to keep your cats and dogs safe and happy plus good costume ideas too then answers an email about an American bull dog who is becoming afraid of water & boats and also has an infantile habit of nursing or suckling his dog bed at the front door of their Fishing lodge where guests notice. Dusty joins the show and helps a listener solve a cat problem she’s got with her neighbor’s cats marking her door with urine and spray and causing her own cats to freak out inside. Dusty explains how you can deter outside cats and if that fails, she tells you how to use cat love pheromones instead. Then the show takes a walk on the wild side exploring some of the stories in ‘Ghost Cats’ and Dusty’s own cat ghost story plus some dog ghost stories Deborah has collected. Have you ever felt like your old dog was watching you, or sitting in the back of your car? Maybe you heard his chain collar jingle or heard him slurp his water or bark in the next room? Or perhaps your cat climbed into bed with you days after it died? You aren’t alone. Dusty explains how to look for ghost pets and how to collect evidence plus her book lists some public places like museums and hotels where you can expect to encounter ghost pets. One of the stories involves a kid who could not have described the cat unless he saw the cat ghost, another has a strange walk through time in the form of a painting and a ghost, and many have different people reporting similar stories. Dusty points out that pet ghosts come back in a friendly way and that owners are not afraid of their pet ghosts. If you think you might have encountered a pet ghost or you wish you could, listen to this spooky Halloween show. The music for the show was diligently found by Frank our producer who hunted down this song which truly haunts pet lovers like myself; ‘Ghost of a Dog’ by Edie Brickell.
